Plastic day 2014
Thursday 3 April 2014
Stedelijk Museum Schiedam
SBMK organised a plastic day around the exhibition ‘I love Holland’ in the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. It is a ‘Wrap up’ day in which a large part of the materials that we have treated in the past eight years are reviewed.
A tour of the exhibition, led by Colin Huizing (curator of the museum), we encounter works by:
– Joep van Lieshout (Glassfiber-Reinforced Polyester)
– Maria van Elk (PUR foam)
– Henk Peeters (Polyethylene / Polypropylene)
– Ad Dekkers (Polyester)
– Constant (Perspex)
– Armando (Rubber)
– Karin Arink (Textile plastics).
Thea van Oosten and Suzan de Groot of RCE give presentations on the state-of-the-art research into these materials, some of which have already been discussed eight years ago.
Karin Arink talks about her work and presents us with the (future) problems.
